Why campuses start with two-wheelers
Educational institutions are among the places where the most people gather each day, for classes, research, meetings and events. As more students and instructors take up electric vehicles, the campus that already has scooters and charging in place is the one that can serve them. Declaring the campus a Green Mobility Campus turns a stated sustainability goal into something visible on the ground.
Air quality across most urban locations in India sits at a severe level, and a campus fleet with no tailpipe answers that directly.
Zeway's mission is to reduce reliance on ICE vehicles, ease traffic congestion and cut CO2 emissions.
A charging station on campus adds value to the property and prompts students, parents and staff to consider EVs of their own.
For an institution already working to lower its greenhouse gas emissions, this is infrastructure that keeps counting for years, not a one-off gesture.
What Zeway provides
Our enterprise mobility solution is a single arrangement covering the vehicle, the charging station and onsite servicing. You are not left assembling it from three vendors and hoping they agree with one another.
Electric scooters on rent for students and staff on daily, weekly or monthly plans, with maintenance and insurance included in the plan.
Charging stations designed for your campus, from planning through to implementation. Zeway supplies, installs and maintains the chargers.
Onsite servicing. Faults are reported through the Zeway app or the helpline and handled by our dedicated team.
Detachable batteries and battery swapping, so a low battery is a one minute stop rather than a lost afternoon.
App access for riders: find a charger, book a slot in advance, follow the session in real time and pay by UPI.
Which scooter and which charger suit a campus
The right specification follows from how far people actually ride and how long vehicles actually stay parked, not from headline numbers on a spec sheet.
For students, the low-speed model capped at 25 km/h. That cap places it outside the registration and licensing requirement for motor vehicles in India, so riders aged 16 and above can ride legally without a driving licence or an RC. Rental starts at just Rs 99 per day*. We still recommend a helmet on every ride.
Its battery is detachable and charges from an ordinary 16A, 220V socket in a hostel room or a department office, taking roughly four to six hours for a full charge. No cabling work is needed to get started.
AC 3.3 kW (230V single phase, Type 2, 16A) for two-wheeler bays and warden or faculty housing. It runs off a normal 16A socket and needs no load upgrade, which matters on an older campus supply.
AC 7.4 kW (230V single phase, 32A, Type 2) where a staff car sits for several hours, and AC 22 kW (400V three phase, 32A, Type 2) for shared staff and visitor parking serving several cars a day.
DC 30 kW where visitors stop rather than stay, such as an admissions block or a conference venue. Our range extends to DC 60 kW and DC 120 kW, but a campus rarely needs them.
How a campus rollout begins
Nothing is ordered before someone has walked the site. We measure the load available, count the likely riders and recommend only what the campus genuinely needs.
Book the free site survey. Tell us where the parking is and how many vehicles use it, and our team will visit and assess the electrical supply.
Arrange free test rides and a consultation so your committee can judge the scooters rather than read about them.
Agree a rental scheme for the institution. Universities, government bodies and PSUs are catered for on the same footing as corporates.
Choose how the charging is funded: buy and install the chargers outright with an annual maintenance contract, or take the zero investment route, where Zeway funds, installs, operates and maintains the station and the site shares in the charging revenue.
Complete institutional KYC, which uses your GST and CIN details alongside the usual identity and address proof.

Questions we are asked
Do students need a driving licence to ride a Zeway electric scooter on campus?
Not for the low-speed models. Zeway's low-speed electric scooters are capped at 25 km/h, which places them outside the registration and licensing requirement for motor vehicles in India, so riders aged 16 and above can ride them without a driving licence or an RC. The faster models do require a valid licence, and Zeway recommends a helmet on every ride regardless of the model.
What does electric scooter rental cost for college students?
At educational institutions, students and staff can hire Zeway e-scooters on a rental basis starting at just Rs 99 per day*. The plan includes maintenance and insurance; accidental damage, malfunctioning and theft are not covered. Plans run daily, weekly or monthly, and we offer specialised rental schemes and tailored plans for institutions.
Where do the scooters charge on a college campus?
Every Zeway scooter comes with a detachable battery and a charging adapter that works from a normal 16A, 220V socket, so a rider can charge in a hostel room or an office, and a full charge normally takes four to six hours. Where a campus wants dedicated infrastructure, Zeway designs, supplies, installs and maintains charging stations on site. Battery swapping is also available, letting a rider exchange a low battery for a fully charged one in under a minute.
Can a college install charging for staff and visitor cars as well as scooters?
Yes. Zeway installs AC chargers rated 3.3 kW, 7.4 kW and 22 kW and DC fast chargers from 30 kW upwards at institutional sites, and the rating is chosen from how long vehicles actually park rather than from headline charging speed. A free site survey measures the electrical supply already available on the campus and recommends only what the site needs.
