Zeway supplies, installs and maintains EV charging for malls and retail parks: DC fast bays for shoppers, AC for staff and tenants. Book a free site survey.
Charging sized to a shopping visit
The right power for a retail site depends on how long vehicles actually stay parked, not on how fast a charger sounds on paper. A shopper who is in for a film, a meal or the weekly shop needs a charge that moves the needle before they walk back out, while the tenant staff parked from opening to close need something slower and cheaper. A mix of AC and DC usually suits a site like this, and the survey is what decides the split.
Fast bays near the entrance for shoppers who stop, slower bays further out for staff and tenants who stay all day
Our stations are used by e-scooters, e-cars and e-rickshaws, so two-wheeler bays can sit alongside car bays
Multiple vehicles can charge simultaneously, so one long session does not block the rest
We measure your available load and count the likely users before recommending anything
A minimum area of about 50 square feet is required to start, and we run an eligibility check on the location
Which chargers suit a mall or retail park
For customer bays, DC fast charging is usually the right answer, because it is built for sites where drivers stop rather than stay. AC sits behind it for the vehicles that are parked for the whole day. Our chargers use Type 2 or CCS2 connectors and work with a wide range of current and future EVs.
DC 30 kW, CCS2 — the entry point to DC fast charging, giving a meaningful charge inside an hour
DC 60 kW, CCS2 — full output of 60 kW on one gun, or 30 kW per gun in dual-gun operation, for busier customer bays that turn over through the day
DC 120 kW — highway-grade charging, for retail sites on a major road that also catch through traffic
AC 22 kW, 400V three-phase, 32A, Type 2 — a useful top-up over a lunch break, and the sensible choice for staff, tenant and long-stay parking
AC 3.3 kW and AC 7.4 kW, 230V single-phase, Type 2 — inexpensive bays for two-wheelers and delivery riders working out of the centre, with the 3.3 kW running off an ordinary 16A socket and no load upgrade
What you get from Zeway
Zeway handles the hub end to end. The list below is what the work actually covers.
A free site survey: we assess the electrical supply, measure available load and send a written recommendation with costs, at no charge and with no obligation
Design, fabrication and installation of the charging hub, including canopies that protect vehicles while customers charge, at a minimal cost, and help with seating and docking stations where the layout needs them
Chargers with swipe card, scan code or app authentication, and protection against over and under voltage, overload, short circuit, current leakage, surge and over and under temperature, with grounding protection
The Zeway app for your visitors: find the station, check prices, pre-book a slot, start and monitor the session in real time, pay by UPI, and see offers from nearby cafes and hotels
Usage tracked per unit consumed and charged accordingly, with a full management portal and round-the-clock customer support; under the zero-investment model Zeway also handles uptime monitoring and on-site service
Two ways to put charging in
You can fund the hardware or you can let Zeway fund it, and that commercial choice is separate from the technical one.
Zero-investment model: Zeway supplies, installs, operates and maintains the station and you share in the charging revenue, while you provide the space and the power connection
Purchase basis: buy and own the chargers outright, installed by us, with an annual maintenance contract
Rooftop solar can feed the hub, generating electricity during daylight and reducing operating cost, with net metering to sell surplus power back to the grid
We will take you through the benefits and packages available under government schemes
Zeway works across Delhi NCR, Kanpur, Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar
What charging does for the centre
Charging is a reason to choose your centre over the one down the road, and it works on footfall you already have. Providing a charging station is a marketing strategy as much as an infrastructure decision.
Attracts new people to your business and builds brand loyalty
Adds a revenue line to parking you are already operating
Increases the value of the property and future-proofs it as more of your visitors arrive electric
Supports your sustainability and CSR commitments, with per-unit usage data you can report on
Questions we are asked
What kind of EV charger should a shopping mall install?
For customer parking at a mall, DC fast charging is normally the right fit, because shoppers stop rather than stay: a DC 30 kW CCS2 unit gives a meaningful charge inside an hour, and DC 60 kW suits bays that turn over through the day. AC 22 kW three-phase is the sensible choice for staff, tenant and long-stay parking, with AC 3.3 kW or 7.4 kW for two-wheeler bays. Zeway measures the available load and counts the likely users during a free site survey before recommending a mix.
Does a retail site need an electricity load upgrade to add EV charging?
It depends on the power you install and the supply already at the site. An AC 3.3 kW charger runs off an ordinary 16A socket and needs no load upgrade, while DC fast chargers draw a great deal more and have to be matched to your connection. Zeway measures the available load during the free site survey and recommends only what the site genuinely needs.
Can a mall install EV charging without paying for the hardware?
Yes. Under Zeway's zero-investment model, Zeway supplies, installs, operates and maintains the station and you share in the charging revenue, while you provide the space and the power connection. If you would rather own the asset, Zeway also supplies and installs chargers on a straightforward purchase basis with an annual maintenance contract.
How do shoppers pay for charging at a Zeway station?
Drivers authenticate at the station by swipe card, scan code or through the Zeway app, then start, monitor and stop the session from their phone. Payment runs through the app, including UPI, and usage is tracked per unit consumed and charged accordingly. Customers can also check prices and pre-book a slot before they set off.
